As well as the general fear of the ocean that many people have, there are also the monstrous denizens that live in the ocean. The DLC takes place a couple of years after the events of the main story and received high scores from notable outlets as well as the fans themselves.Īlthough it's not technically classed as a horror game, Subnautica certainly has its terrifying moments. The studio also released the sequel Subnautica: Below Zero last year, which was almost as well praised as the base game. It was also ported to PS5 and Xbox Series consoles in May 2021. Unknown Worlds originally launched the title in 2018, where it had a steady climb in the PC community before launching on Xbox One and PS4 later that year. In a report from Eurogamer, it seems Living Large is the first major update for the game in two years. According to the Subnautica Steam page, this new update has over 800 bug fixes, as well as some tweaks to the save function and some new base pieces which were, up until now, only available in the Below Zero sequel. Emerging from the escape pod, the sight of the wreckage is laid before the protagonist, but there is nary time to take in the sights, beautiful though they may be, as the immediate task is to repair the escape pod and find a way to survive. If the devs take these suggestions into mind I feel the PS5 version could be VASTLY improved. I do not hate the game or the devs, this is purely meant to be constructive criticism. Now that my rant is over, I feel I need to make it clear. The way I see it is the devs have two options: optimize the game enough to enable a smooth 120HZ output or CAP the framerate at 60 and give us the option to enable v-sync IN THE MENU. There is no v-sync option unless you wish to forfeit trophies and enable it through dev commands. It is as if the devs didn't play test it it is so bad. it is a nightmare you will CONSTANTLY have screen tearing especially indoors where framerates are even higher (remember no 60FPS cap) making for a terrible experience. This uncapped framerate results in constant dips throughout gameplay making it very annoying to play almost to the point I would prefer the locked 30, and the screen tearing. It runs the game at an UNCAPPED framerate, without enabling 120HZ output.
